Our story
While Loony Shirts may seem like a slightly provocative choice of a name, there are a few good reasons why it ended up being chosen as our brand name. Loony denotes someone or something mad, foolish or silly, and it’s all true. We have been mad and we have been foolish, but now, we are only silly. Feeling less alone and more understood was key to our recovery and we want to pass on what has so generously been given to us on the rocky road to silliness and the bearable lightness of being.

Not many people know that behind the glamurous facade of a successful movie star, the life of the iconic Cary Grant – the author of these words – was filled with trauma and sadness that stemmed from, where else, but his childhood.
DESIGN OVERVIEW: If you are happy and you know it, it’s your meds
As far as the “meds” are concerned, I personally have no experience with taking them. On the contrary, I am very much against pills of any kind and even when I get sick and have a fever, I almost always use the traditional home made remedy of herbal tea, honey, lemon and lots of rest. At times, however, pills (antibiotics) are inevitable as they cure me from infections.

Our mission
Loony Shirts is the result of an overactive mind and authentic passion for psychology, combined with vast life experience and small-business management skills. Our t-shirts are designed to consciously have an impact in some way – whether by making someone smile or by providing comfort in the recognition of a shared experience. The purpose behind our t-shirts is as complex and multilayered as the human mind.
Driven by the goals of inclusiveness and increasing awareness, we want to join others in breaking the mental health taboo. It’s time to speak frankly and openly about issues that may not always be comfortable to talk about, but that get exacerbated precisely because they are silenced and ignored.
